Job Summary

Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care and treatment to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Perform clinical support functions and patient care techniques, including preparing patients for treatment and operating procedures.
  • Assist patients with dressing, bathing, and eating, as well as collecting or assisting in the collection of specimens for testing and analysis.
  • Obtain and record vital signs and weight, perform accu-checks, and oral and nasal suctioning.
  • Prepare supplies and environment prior to and after care, and ensure adequate inventory of equipment and supplies in patient care areas.
  • May assist with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients, as well as transport patients to units and ancillary departments for testing.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a medical, hospital, or healthcare setting, with patient care-related duties.
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in New York State is required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalency is required.
