Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Technologist to join our team at NavitsPartners. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing imaging procedures, administering radiation doses, and ensuring the safe handling and storage of radioactive materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in patient and family education, and initiate and maintain quality patient care throughout the procedure.
- Administer radiation doses and perform quality control procedures, ensuring thorough knowledge and understanding of imaging technologies employed.
- Perform imaging procedures, using techniques that minimize radiation exposure to patients, healthcare personnel, and the general public.
- Follow Radiation Safety guidelines for contaminated areas, recognizing malfunctioning equipment and performing minor troubleshooting.
- Archive and retrieve data, ensuring safe handling and storage of radioactive materials during procurement, identification, calibration, preparation, quality control, dose calibration, dispensing, documentation, administration, decay, and disposal.
- Comply with Federal, State, and local requirements and regulatory agencies, maintaining a clean, safe work environment and observing safety procedures and testing.
- Collect, review, and assess patient data, verifying appropriateness, contraindications, necessary consents, pre-exam preparedness, and patient identification.
- Recognize signs and symptoms, use radioactive materials in specialized studies of body organs and/or laboratory analysis to assist the physician in the diagnosis of disease and injury.
- Measure the levels and types of radiation produced by nuclear experiments, power generation, and other activities, advise others on radiation safety procedures and apparel, and raise warning levels when conditions become hazardous.
- Ensure that reactors and other equipment are operated safely and efficiently, evaluate factors such as temperature, pressure, and radiation intensity to determine whether equipment is functioning properly, and make adjustments to improve the performance of reactors and other equipment.
- Monitor the disposal, recycling, and storage of nuclear waste, and help nuclear physicists, nuclear engineers, and other scientists conduct research and develop new types of nuclear reactors, fuels, medicines, and other technologies.
Requirements:
- Licensure with NYS DOH in Radiologic Technologist
- ARRT certification in Radiography and NT
- BLS certification
- At least 1 year of NT experience
- Graduate of Radiologic Technologist program
