About the Role

Cranemasters is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Fleet Maintenance to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for the management and oversight of our company fleet of vehicles and equipment across all divisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: Provide leadership and guidance to Assistant Directors of Fleet Maintenance and Shop Managers, ensuring that they are equipped to manage and maintain our fleet effectively.
  • Fleet Management: Oversee the maintenance and repair of our vehicles and equipment, ensuring that they are safe, efficient, and cost-effective.
  • Problem-Solving: Analyze equipment failures and develop solutions to prevent future occurrences, ensuring that our fleet is always operational and meeting our customers' needs.
  • Inventory Management: Develop and implement standard operating procedures for equipment maintenance inventory, ensuring that we have the necessary parts and materials to maintain our fleet.
  • Project Management: Oversee project scheduling, ensuring that delivery commitments and deadlines are met, and that our fleet is always available to meet our customers' needs.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Ensure that Shop Managers submit accurate reports and documentation, and that our fleet is compliant with all relevant regulations and laws.
  • Team Development: Provide coaching, counseling, and feedback to direct reports, ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge necessary to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Professional Development: Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending meetings, workshops, and training sessions, and by participating in industry associations and networks.
Requirements
  • Experience: 10+ years of proven fleet management experience, with a high school diploma supplemented by equivalent technical training or education.
  • Industry Knowledge: Prior experience in the railroad, construction, or heavy equipment industry, with demonstrated knowledge of heavy equipment mechanics, hydraulics, welding, and wiring.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Solid knowledge of D.O.T. regulations, including permitting for overweight and oversized loads, FRA regulations, and Cranemasters' safety policies and procedures.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and jobs, and to work directly with clients and prospects.
  • Communication Skills: Strong and proactive communication skills, with the ability to coach, counsel, and provide feedback to employees.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient computer skills, including MS Office programs, and ability to learn additional software as required.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with occasional work in inclement weather conditions, and the ability to stand and work outside in all weather conditions.
