Job Summary

The Hunter Museum of American Art seeks a skilled Facilities Operations Specialist to join its team. This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the museum's facilities, including maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and systems.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform daily inspections and repairs of museum campuses, buildings, and grounds.
  2. Assist in the management of the recycling program and ensure proper preservation of museum equipment.
  3. Work with the Special Events Department to execute rental events and assist with facility needs.
  4. Collaborate with the Education Department to support internal and external events.
  5. Manage work orders and department workflow, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  6. Maintain a professional relationship with vendors and contractors.
  7. Work with the Facility Assistant Manager and Facility Manager to adhere to the annual facility/maintenance budget.

Requirements
  • Proven ability to lead through example and positive attitude.
  • Good communication skills and knowledge of facility operations.
  • Experience using tools and performing general repairs and maintenance.
  • Good computer skills, including technology, audio visual, and iPad.
  • High school diploma/GED preferred; minimum of 2 years progressively responsible experience in a related field.

Working Conditions

The Facilities Operations Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment, requiring flexibility and adaptability. The position involves physical demands, including stooping, kneeling, standing, squatting, crouching, crawling, pushing, pulling, climbing, and lifting up to 80lbs.


This is a full-time, hourly position (40 hours/week, $15.80/hour) with a requirement to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and be on-call after hours to respond to emergency situations.
