We are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our team as an Associate Professor in the Institute on the Biology of Aging and Metabolism at the University of Minnesota. The successful candidate will have a strong background in the biology of aging and expertise in one or more of the geroscience pillars of aging: metabolism, macromolecular damage, epigenetics, inflammation, stress responses, proteostasis, and/or stem cells and regeneration.
ResponsibilitiesThe Associate Professor will be responsible for developing and maintaining an outstanding research program focused on the biology of aging and metabolism. The candidate will be expected to cover at least 50% of their salaries through external sources of funding and maintain a self-supporting research program. The Associate Professor will also be responsible for teaching a minimum of 50% of one lecture course per academic year (~20-25 lectures) in the graduate and/or medical school, as well as mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
QualificationsThe successful candidate must have a Ph.D., M.D., D.V.M., or other advanced degree in a biomedical discipline. A track record of independent funding, preferably from the National Institute on Aging (NIA), is preferred.
