Job Title: 1st Class Crane Operator (Night Shift)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced 1st Class Crane Operator to join our team at Bollinger Shipyards. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various types of cranes, including crawler crane friction and hydraulic, cherry picker, forklift, barge cranes, and gantry cranes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate cranes safely and efficiently, adhering to strict safety protocols and procedures.
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of cranes and related equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Participate in rigging tasks as needed, working closely with other team members to ensure smooth and efficient lifting operations.
  • Perform load chart calculations to ensure safe lifting operations, adhering to load limits and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate with other team members to ensure seamless communication and execution of lifting operations.
  • Move materials and equipment as required by construction and maintenance schedules, ensuring timely and efficient completion of tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience operating various types of cranes and lifting equipment.
  • Full understanding of overhead cranes, heavy lift cranes, cherry pickers, forklifts, barge cranes, load charts, and load limits.
  • Experience in a shipyard environment is a plus, with a strong understanding of crane operation safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ability to inspect and maintain lifting equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work night shifts, with a strong commitment to safety and efficiency.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in operating various types of cranes and lifting equipment, with a strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to perform accurate load chart calculations.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to crane operations, with a strong commitment to compliance.
  • Effective communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic maintenance skills for cranes and lifting equipment, with a strong understanding of inspection and maintenance procedures.
