Job Summary:

The Surgical Technologist works under the supervision of the surgeon and RN to assist with surgical procedures. This includes arranging and inventorying sterile set-ups, passing instruments to surgeons and nurses, and preparing patients for surgery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use physician preference cards to identify supplies and equipment needed for procedures
  • Set up sterile tables with instruments, supplies, and medications
  • Prepare solutions and medications used during procedures
  • Provide supplies and equipment to surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists
  • Assist with draping sterile fields and maintaining sterile technique
  • Perform counts with circulators before and after procedures
  • Deliver surgical specimens and cultures to circulating nurses
  • Review and replace supplies after procedures
  • Assist with terminal cleaning of operating rooms

Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain sterile technique
  • Ability to provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours
