Transportation Operations Center Dispatcher
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation Operations Center Dispatcher to join our team at the Oregon Department of Transportation. As a key member of our Transportation Operations Center, you will play a critical role in monitoring the operation of the transportation system, responding to incidents, and coordinating transportation-related communications and services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor transportation system conditions, radio communications, and weather conditions.
- Implement incident and weather-related response plans.
- Coordinate with other agencies, dispatch centers, transportation operation centers, crews, law enforcement, and the Oregon Emergency Response System.
- Receive, input, and notify crews about maintenance or repair requests.
- Implement detour routes, including dispatching staff and equipment.
- Review, analyze, and maintain knowledge of statewide and regional standard operating guidelines, emergency operations plans, and TOC systems.
Requirements:
- Two years of public contact experience, including gathering, relaying, and providing information to others, and evaluating activities or incidents, and determining an appropriate course of action.
- One year of this experience must include receiving and dispatching emergency requests using radio equipment, telephone, and/or computer.
- Successful completion of a Certified Emergency Communications Course may substitute for the one year of specialized experience.
