Strategic Financial Leader for Higher Education

Establish a robust financial framework for UC San Diego, leveraging your expertise in higher education finance and administration to drive strategic decision-making and foster collaboration.

Become the Chief Financial Officer for Health Sciences, responsible for creating and maintaining control of funds flow between the UC San Diego Health (Health System) and the Health Sciences professional schools.

Cultivate a diverse and talented team, building policies and capabilities that promote diversity and inclusion. Partner with academic and administrative leadership to fulfill UC San Diego's goals, supporting the central role of the academic vision for the institution.

Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the changing clinical, education, and research environments to monitor and evaluate support services, ensuring the development of financial services, information systems, and physical resources that address the medical center's needs.

As Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, advance six major strategies for the UC San Diego enterprise:

  • Financial excellence: Combine strong strategic and decision support with controls and discipline.
  • Revenue diversification: Seek new revenues and run lean administrative and academic operations.
  • Operating excellence: Strive for operating excellence without stifling innovation.
  • Destination campus: Transform the isolated La Jolla campus into a vibrant hub and anchor the University into the community.
  • Health Sciences strategic financial oversight: Optimize funds flow and revenue generations, and ensure operational efficiencies.
  • Diverse talent and inclusive excellence: Build a diverse and talented team and create a culture of inclusion.

The ideal candidate will have substantial financial leadership experience, aptitude to work within complex financial constraints, cultural fluency, relationship skills, and capacity to exercise leadership at local and system-wide levels.
