Respiratory Therapist I
Job Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist I to join our team at Careers Integrated Resources Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering standard Respiratory Care, including aerosol medication delivery, basic bedside pulmonary function testing, breathing exercises, oxygen therapy, arterial cannulation, and arterial punctures.
Key Responsibilities:- Administer Respiratory Care services to patients, including aerosol medication delivery and basic bedside pulmonary function testing.
- Provide oxygen therapy and manage airway devices, including tracheostomy tubes and endotracheal tubes.
- Perform arterial cannulation and arterial punctures as needed.
- Conduct breathing exercises and provide education to patients on respiratory care techniques.
- May perform Pulmonary Function Testing as needed.
- Transport pediatric and neonatal patients from referral hospitals per Client Air Care Protocol.
- May perform advanced practice procedures per Client Air Care Protocol, including UAC, UVC, IV insertion, intravenous insertion, Chest Tube insertion, Needle Decompression, ABGs, Blood Glucose monitoring, and others as deemed necessary by the medical control officer.
- Manage Extracorporeal circulation for cardiac and respiratory support of patients when working with ECMO.
- May be required to be on-call days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Provide ventilator care, including setting up and verifying function using specialized ventilator modes to manage the patient's disease process.
- Monitor patients and provide weaning techniques as needed.
- Maintain and improve job knowledge and skills.
- Serve as a resource to other staff reflective of experience level.
- Serve as a resource for physicians and other Client staff.
- Aid in training new staff members, students, and new physicians.
- Provide in-services as required.
- May assume Charge Therapist responsibilities.
- Record all pertinent information pertaining to patient care procedures per hospital and departmental policies.
- Record patient information in the electronic medical record system.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Respiratory Care and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and a degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related field is preferred. The candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time. A valid driver's license is required, and the ability to travel to different locations is necessary.
