Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Engineer to lead a team of engineers in DeKalb County. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering and experience in project management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate daily work activities of assigned crew or co-workers
  • Confer with supervisor to obtain direction regarding work assignments and priorities
  • Organize tasks in order to complete assigned work
  • Monitor status of work in progress and inspect completed work
  • Confer with co-workers, assist with complex/problem situations, and provide technical expertise
  • Assist with training and instructing co-workers regarding operational procedures and proper use of equipment
  • Assist with supervision of co-workers by reporting employee problems and providing input on disciplinary action and employee performance evaluations
Project Management
  • Conduct and/or review modeling, planning, and engineering studies in support of project analysis and design
  • Provide technical support during construction
  • Prepare reports detailing the quantitative analysis performed and concluding recommendations
  • Review and verify engineering calculations and analysis submitted by consultant engineers or internal engineering technicians
Infrastructure Development
  • Conduct a programming assessment to determine space, infrastructure, facility, and other project requirements
  • Participate in the development of lists of potential infrastructure improvement projects to be included in the capital investment plan for the program or division
Regulatory Compliance
  • Complete review of civil engineering aspects of all site development plans to ensure compliance with applicable laws, ordinances, regulations, and standards
  • Evaluate and assess the impact of the proposed project with regards to traffic and transportation, drainage and stormwater runoff, hydrology and hydraulics, flood protection, grading and erosion control, zoning and land use appropriateness, and related issues
  • Approve plans and issue permits or initiate any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations
Communication
  • Facilitate communication between the owner, project manager, contractors, other governmental agencies, the public, and other interested parties
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline required
  • Five years of civil engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer license required
