POSITION SUMMARY:

The Procurement Planner is responsible for assessing material and production needs and coordinating the procurement of goods and services for the organization.

REPORTING STRUCTURE: Supply Chain Director

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct timely evaluations of MRP notifications to ascertain production needs and take necessary actions, including placing purchase orders and expediting deliveries as required. Monitor supplier performance to ensure timely delivery of essential raw materials and components.
  • Assess material availability for scheduled orders.
  • Procure raw materials/components based on MRP and expedite orders as necessary; ensure all relevant information is accurate.
  • Coordinate work orders and logistics for external processing of raw materials.
  • Monitor and report on part shortages during daily meetings.
  • Continuously explore global purchasing opportunities and strategies for cost reduction.
  • Resolve material-related issues and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Enter purchase orders into the system; verify all relevant information for accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Receiving Inspection regarding non-conforming parts.
  • Communicate non-conformance issues to vendors and manage returns through debit memos.
  • Work with Receiving and vendors to address count discrepancies.
  • Receive design modifications from the Engineering Department and distribute updated specifications to vendors.
  • Engage with Accounts Payable to rectify pricing discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineers on prototypes to establish pricing and delivery timelines.
  • Assist in monitoring supply chain metrics, including Supplier On-Time Delivery, Purchase Price Variance, and inventory levels.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying problems and proposing solutions, and may participate in Kaizen events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in purchasing and/or planning.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of numbers and fractions.
  • Experience in supplier management.
  • Familiarity with MRP systems.
  • Proficient computer and keyboard skills.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities.
EDUCATION:

A degree from an accredited four-year university in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Primarily sedentary work.
  • Requires use of hands and arms at least 60% of the time.
  • Lifting requirements generally do not exceed 10 lbs., with occasional manual lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Climate-controlled office setting.
  • Minimal exposure to factory conditions.
  • Noise levels are light to moderate.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The compensation range for this position is $72,000 to $108,100, depending on experience. This role may also be eligible for a performance-based bonus plan.
