POSITION SUMMARY

The Licensed Respiratory Care Specialist operates under the guidance of the Respiratory Therapy Manager, executing essential tasks to facilitate and enhance departmental operations. This role is integral to achieving the mission, vision, and values of CCH. Practitioners adhere to the standards set forth by the Wyoming State Board of Respiratory Care and the American Association of Respiratory Care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitates the admission and discharge processes, ensuring thorough initiation, maintenance, and billing.
  • Promotes cost efficiency within the department and the organization.
  • Delivers outstanding customer service to all stakeholders.
  • Ensures accurate electronic medical record documentation.
  • Upholds confidentiality regarding all personnel and patient information.
  • Communicates effectively with both internal and external parties.
  • Monitors the functionality and integrity of respiratory equipment.
  • Maintains professional standards through ongoing education and certification.
  • Responds to after-hours calls as necessary.
  • Conducts decontamination, assembly, and calibration of equipment.
  • Provides education to patients and their families.
  • Administers a comprehensive range of diagnostic and therapeutic modalities within the defined scope of practice.
  • For those covering the Sleep Center, a minimum of 10 sleep-related continuing education units is required annually.
  • Must maintain a clean record free from governmental sanctions related to healthcare or financial practices.
  • Adheres to the hospital's Corporate Compliance Program, including the Code of Conduct and relevant laws and policies.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned; this list is not exhaustive.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education
    • High school diploma and graduation from an AMA-accredited Respiratory Therapy program; must be credentialed by NBRC or CoARC.
  • Licensure
    • Current Wyoming Respiratory Care Practitioner License is required.
  • Experience
    • No prior experience is necessary.
  • Certifications
    • Must comply with the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and other certification requirements.
