Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Diagnostic Imaging Director, prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic and therapeutic studies. Utilizing efficient and safe processes, performs related technological functions to ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs diagnostic studies on patients using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce images of organs on photographic film.
  • Prepares stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculates doses, and administers doses under the general supervision of the physician.
  • Administers therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under direct supervision of the physician.
  • Measures radioactivity using Geiger counters, scalers, and scintillation detectors.
  • Calibrates equipment and follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials.
