About the Role

University of Utah Health is seeking a highly skilled Imaging Services Representative to join our team. As a key member of our radiology department, you will play a critical role in maintaining a digital library of radiological images and providing exceptional support to our healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and manage daily workflows of images, ensuring timely and effective use of services.
  • Assist hospital staff in executing their duties by acting as a resource person for image-related tasks.
  • Download images from other institutions into our PACS system, ensuring seamless integration and continuity of service.
  • Routinely check PACS monitors to ensure that studies are flowing from acquisition modalities and are properly routed to review stations.
  • Initiate and follow through with tracking missing images, documenting transmission to PACS and notifying relevant personnel.
  • Generate reports to track images from acquisition to PACS, interacting with managers to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Resolve broken, combined, and misidentified studies, transmitting electronic images as needed.
  • Train and assist physicians and staff as required, performing Radiology Help Desk functions as assigned.
  • Process requests for image release and follow established retrieval procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity and workflow efficiency.
  • Manage critical results communication for radiologists, ensuring timely and accurate dissemination of information.
  • Troubleshoot technology issues, providing first-line support and/or dispatching specialists to resolve Radiology IT issues.
  • Document HIPAA compliance and ensure necessary images are available for surgical procedures and emergency patients.
  • Update patient demographics, merge patients, merge images to studies, and update order information as part of established procedures or import/export of images data.
  • Perform other tasks related to the operation and monitoring of radiology clinical and administrative information systems.
Requirements
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of advanced imaging applications.
  • Experience working with a PACS system.
  • Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DICOM, HL-7, and application interface interaction with enterprise systems.
  • Ability to effectively present technical and service-related information and respond to questions in one-on-one and group situations.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Ability to work independently with strong written and verbal skills.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to be on after-hours call and available for first-line support and to address image routing issues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year of help desk support experience, customer service experience, or the equivalency.
  • Associate's degree, two-year technical program completion, or the equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Familiarity with Notes e-mail and calendaring.
  • Familiarity/experience with the following IT systems: Philips iSite, Philips Intellispace, and Osirix (or other PACS systems), PowerScribe (or similar speech recognition medical dictation systems), Epic Radiant (or similar Radiology Information System product), Epic Hyperspace (or similar EMR product), and SeeMyRadiology (or other peer-to-peer medical image sharing systems).
