Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced data science professional to lead our credit risk data science function at Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced models for credit underwriting, account management, and collections.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of credit products, including personal loans and credit cards, and will be able to develop data-driven strategies to drive business growth.

Responsibilities
  • Build and deliver advanced models for credit underwriting, account management, and collections using traditional credit bureau data and alternative sources.
  • Work closely with Risk, Engineering, Product, Compliance, and Analytics leadership to chart the roadmap for core risk decision-making and strategy.
Requirements
  1. 7+ years of experience in the Consumer financial services industry or a PhD with at least 5 years of professional experience.
  2. A bachelor's degree in mathematics, finance, industrial engineering, statistics, data science, or a related discipline; a master's degree in these fields is preferred.
  3. Strong expertise in statistical modeling methodologies, including ML and logistic regression, advanced data analysis techniques, and reject inferencing.
