About the Role

Planate Management Group is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team. As a Mechanical Engineer at Planate, you will be responsible for performing engineering duties in planning and designing tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Implementation: Design and implement cost-effective equipment modifications to improve safety, reliability, and throughput.
  • Project Management: Perform design work for new construction, renovations, and improvement projects for real property facilities.
  • Technical Expertise: Interpret and adapt traditional methods and approaches in developing design calculations, layouts, drawings, and specifications that support project objectives and standards.
  • Construction Inspections: Responsible for selected construction inspections, quality control, and submittal reviews beyond the expertise of construction managers.
  • Cost Estimation and Scheduling: Develop cost estimates and time schedules, review and analyze preliminary and final designs, plans, and specifications for technical efficiency and adequacy.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare necessary correspondence, technical reports, contract documents, fact sheets, and status reports, and prepare final construction drawings suitable for obtaining qualified bids from contractors.
  • Contract Administration: Prepare Architect and Engineer (A&E) Statements of Work (SOW), serve as a technical representative for negotiation and/or administration of contracts.
  • Project Monitoring and Management: Monitor and/or manage projects for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities, utilizing a professional knowledge of engineering.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental: Comply with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures, and perform work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
Qualifications
  • Secret Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance; note US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree: Mechanical Engineering degree required, licensed mechanical engineer preferred.
  • Design Experience: Must have a minimum of four (4) years of design experience and be capable of providing mechanical design service, including determination of HVAC loads, equipment selection, duct sizing and routing, interior plumbing design, and exterior plumbing design.
  • Software Proficiency: Must be proficient in AutoCAD 2012 or later.
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Communication and Leadership Skills: Excellent communications, effective leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Working Knowledge: Working knowledge of Design Review, Project Mobilization, Quality Compliance, QA, Safety, Project Controls, and Capture Management.
  • Computer Literacy: Computer literate; can use Microsoft Office and Project, etc.
