The University Medical Center of El Paso seeks a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Services Director to lead the operational, budgetary, and personnel activities of the inpatient and outpatient EPCD Laboratory services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic plans to improve laboratory services and meet hospital goals and objectives.
- Manage and supervise department staff, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with other departments and services.
- Develop and manage department budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and compliance with hospital policies.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective working relationships.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of community resources and social work principles and standard practices.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
- Develop and implement effective training programs for department staff.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in laboratory services.
Requirements:
- Seven years of experience in a management/supervisor capacity in a regional/reference lab environment.
- Strong background in laboratory services and knowledge of budget preparations, purchasing, bookkeeping, and personnel management.
- ASCP Board Certified as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology required; Master's degree in a related field preferred.
- Excellent analytical and data management skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey understanding of complex issues.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, with cultural sensitivity.
