Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all processes related to the initiation of discrete jobs on the manufacturing floor, including but not limited to:
  • Analyzing the daily production schedule to establish job launch timing and order
  • Creating Oracle Discrete jobs based on provided production length targets
  • Linking orders to optimize process efficiency and minimize scrap while maximizing raw material usage
  • Identifying opportunities for utilizing WOP inventory
  • Selecting fiber for orders based on characteristics, focusing on fiber usage and scrap reduction
  • Preparing Production Shop Packs
  • Managing incoming fiber storage, staging fibers for coloring, and creating necessary coloring discrete to support production
  • Coordinating tasks with fellow Fiber Planners to meet daily operational demands
  • Collaborating closely with internal customers in Fiber Planning
  • Engaging in relevant improvement initiatives
  • Adhering to all safety protocols as required for the Fiber Planner role
  • Completing all mandatory Safety Training
  • Promoting and adhering to AFL's environmental, health, and safety policies
Qualifications:
  • Proven track record with a minimum of 3 years in discrete manufacturing, specifically in cable production
  • Current certification in AFL manufacturing processes for at least two primary operations
  • Valid EHS/Quality certification and completed EHS training
  • No ongoing or historical disciplinary actions
  • Reliable with an excellent attendance record
  • Willingness to work overtime, off shifts, and weekends with minimal notice, as well as rotating shifts when necessary
Personal Attributes:
  • Consistently available and dependable, both on and off the job
  • Detail-oriented with a quick learning ability
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously
