Job Summary

The Psychiatric Technician will work under the supervision of providers, leadership, or RNs to assist in the treatment and care of psychiatric patients in accordance with the established methods and procedures of the Psychiatric Services Inpatient Unit at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of treatment plans for patients with mental health conditions.
  • Provide support and care to patients in a safe and respectful environment.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Document patient observations, care provided, and any deviations from treatment plans.
  • Participate in training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Health or mental health care experience preferred.
  • Certificate in mental health technology or related field, such as licensed nursing assistant preferred.
  • BLS Certification through American Heart Association required within 1 month of hire.
  • Completion of endorsed patient/visitor de-escalation and restraint program certification required within 1 month of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and observation skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and think and act effectively in high-stress situations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated moderate knowledge of basic computer skills.
