Job Summary

The CNC Machinist/Programmer is responsible for performing machining operations and meeting daily production requirements. This position requires a high-level knowledge of programming with FANUC control and a focus on quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate machines in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Create and edit CNC programs for lathes using FANUC manual guide.
  • Use collision avoidance features on capable machines to ensure safe operation.
  • Inspect and verify tooling, setups, and program coordinates to ensure quality parts.
  • Make corrections and edits to programs as needed.
  • Provide timely information regarding production issues that may affect quality, delivery, or customer requirements.
  • Make suggestions for process improvements to shorten run times and increase efficiency.
  • Analyze tooling, setups, and procedures to identify areas for improvement.
  • Read and understand manufacturing drawings to classify parts and identify production requirements.
  • Load and unload heavy weldments using overhead cranes and best rigging practices.
  • Operate machines to load, unload, and pre-position work in fixtures, and check parts for conformity with dimensional specifications.
  • Remain alert to detect improper machining and troubleshoot material issues as they arise.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to share ideas and improve operations, recommending and implementing continuous improvement activities and process improvements.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; two-year machining technology degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience programming lathes with FANUC control using manual guide.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent computer skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and materials.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree or certificate from an accredited university or technical institution.
  • Equipment manufacturing background.
  • Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of mechanical equipment.
  • Proficiency with Okuma OSP turning.
