Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have the ability to set up and operate one or more CNC or NC lathes to perform various machining operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC Lathes: The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating one or more CNC or NC lathes to perform various machining operations.
  • Read and Interpret Drawings: The candidate will need to read and interpret basic and complex drawings and sketches to ensure accurate machining operations.
  • Use Measuring Tools: The CNC Lathe Operator will use measuring tools to the .001" graduation (Micrometers, Calipers, Indicators, etc.) to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Follow Safety Protocols: The candidate will be responsible for following all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Perform Machine Adjustments: The CNC Lathe Operator will make machine adjustments to produce parts to specified tolerances.
  • Download and Upload Part Programs: The candidate will need to download and upload part programs to the CNC lathe.
  • Make Basic Edits to Part Programs: The CNC Lathe Operator will make basic edits to part programs at the machine tool control.
  • Select Proper Cutting Tools: The candidate will select proper cutting tools per the program set-up sheet.
  • Touch-off Tools and Set Start Points: The CNC Lathe Operator will touch-off tools and set start points.
  • Interpret Complex Drawings: The candidate will interpret complex drawings and understand Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances.
  • Produce Complex Parts: The CNC Lathe Operator will produce complex parts with minimal supervision.
  • Write Part Programs: The candidate will write part programs at the machine.
  • Produce Parts on Multiple Machines: The CNC Lathe Operator will produce parts on multiple machines simultaneously.
  • Perform Basic Maintenance Tasks: The candidate will perform basic maintenance tasks to keep the machine running.
  • Train Other Operators: The CNC Lathe Operator will train other operators.
Essential Skills
  • CNC Lathe Operation and Set-up: The candidate will need to have proficiency in CNC lathe operation and set-up.
  • Reading and Understanding Blueprints: The CNC Lathe Operator will need to be able to read and understand blueprints.
  • Machine Tool Safety and Procedures: The candidate will need to have a thorough understanding of machine tool safety and procedures.
  • Tools for Various Operations: The CNC Lathe Operator will need to have knowledge of tools for various operations and work holding methods.
  • Cutting Speeds, Feed Rates, and Depth of Cuts: The candidate will need to have knowledge of cutting speeds, feed rates, and depth of cuts.
  • Measuring Instruments: The CNC Lathe Operator will need to be able to use micrometers, calipers, and other measuring instruments.
