Position Overview
A pharmacist delivers patient-centered care by providing direct operational and clinical services. They ensure the safe and effective use of medications through comprehensive drug information, therapeutic monitoring, and pharmacy services in accordance with departmental policies and regulatory standards. Participation in staff development and departmental committees is also expected. This role requires flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, depending on departmental needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately processes medication orders, oversees drug distribution, and administers patient care while ensuring appropriateness of therapy for diverse patient demographics, including neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. Strives to enhance efficiency in service delivery. - 40%
- Provides timely and relevant responses to inquiries regarding drug information. - 15%
- Supervises pharmacy support staff, ensuring accuracy in their tasks. May take on leadership roles to oversee workload and workflow. - 20%
- Conducts pharmacy consultations and delivers clinical services with appropriate documentation as part of departmental initiatives. - 10%
- Facilitates experiential education for pharmacy technicians, students, and new team members. - 5%
- Acts as a liaison between pharmacy and patient care areas, addressing distribution challenges and monitoring medication storage. - 10%
- Bachelor's Degree from an ACPE-accredited pharmacy program; PharmD preferred.
- No prior experience required; however, department-specific pharmacy experience is preferred.
- Must be licensed as a Pharmacist in South Carolina or eligible for licensure within three months of hire.
- Comprehensive understanding of medical and pharmaceutical terminology; strong mathematical, computer, and aseptic technique skills. - Required
- Knowledge of SCBOP/DHEC/DEA regulations. - Required
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with colleagues and supervisors. - Required
- Strong problem-solving skills; ability to work collaboratively in high-pressure situations. - Required
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with office equipment.
- Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
- Data entry and mathematical proficiency.
