About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Ultrasound Tech to join our team at LCMC Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for performing echocardiograms and providing high-quality diagnostic images to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform echocardiograms on patients of all ages, from newborn to adult, with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare patients for testing, perform the appropriate test, and provide data/results to the cardiologist.
  • Prepare preliminary reports for the reading physician as per schedule.
  • Assist healthcare practitioners with transesophageal, epicardial, and intracardiac echocardiographic studies.
  • Recognize simple and complex congenital heart defects independently.
  • Perform fetal echocardiograms as required.
  • Apply organizational skills toward testing of both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Complete preliminary reports on all tests performed for physician review.
  • Identify indications and limitations of exams and procedures.
  • Order inventory-specific supplies needed to perform duties.
Requirements
  • Registered through American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a medical sonographer or cardiac sonographer.
  • American Heart Association, Basic Life Support Health Care Provider.
  • Knowledge of ultrasound physics and instrumentation, cardiac anatomy and physiology, vascular anatomy and physiology, general medical terminology, and an understanding of the nomenclature of physicians' orders.
  • Ability to locate anatomic landmarks, use manual dexterity for proper probe placement, and draw clinically relevant conclusions from raw data.
