Cargo Customer Service Agent Job Description

At Air Canada Defunct, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cargo Customer Service Agent to join our team. As a key member of our cargo operations, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our clients, handling cargo and mail shipments, and ensuring the efficient operation of our work unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Handle and process cargo and mail shipments, including receiving, delivering, and processing shipments, as well as handling customs and regulatory requirements.
  • Operate Company vehicles and machinery, including forklifts and other equipment, to move cargo and mail shipments.
  • Compute cargo rates and tariffs, book shipments, and provide customers with relevant information, including customs requirements.
  • Handle and account for cash and documents in accordance with Company regulations.
  • Process information in the Company's automated cargo tracking and accounting system, ensuring accurate and timely data entry.
  • Accept and process hazardous and restricted material shipments in accordance with Company and governmental rules and regulations.
  • In the absence of Manager and Lead Customer Service Agent, make, carry out, and document decisions necessary to ensure the efficient operation of the work unit and protect Company interests.
  • Inform staff of changes in rules, methods, or procedures, as required.
  • Ensure that all necessary supplies and materials are on hand in sufficient quantity.
  • Collect and compile statistical data, as required.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to use tact, good judgment, and initiative.
  • Capable of expressing self in a clear and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to work under pressure with a minimum of supervision.
  • Must be able to use the Company's automated cargo tracking and accounting system, after training.
  • Must wear Company uniform as prescribed and conform to Company grooming standards.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to operate Company vehicles and machinery.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift seventy (70) pounds unaided.
  • Must maintain an acceptable attendance record.
  • Must have a valid passport to travel for training in Canada.
  • Customs Seal required and is subject to approval by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and/or third-party equivalent.
  • Security clearance and USCBP clearance required.
Specific Requirements:
  • While on duty, MUST wear safety shoes as described in Company regulations.
  • Required to wear Company-provided hearing protection when working in designated high-noise areas.
  • Safety is important to Air Canada Defunct, and all employees are prohibited from being impaired by intoxicating substances while on duty or in the workplace. Candidates will be subject to a drug test.
