Position Summary

In the role of Senior Associate, you will provide Health & Welfare clients with innovative insights by delivering comprehensive solutions. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of topics including, but not limited to, plan design, compliance, reporting services, pricing strategies, employee contribution frameworks, and retiree health care solutions. You will contribute to Health & Welfare Benefits Consulting projects, mentor fellow associates, and foster a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • 2-5 years of demonstrated experience in benefit plan design, funding, and/or administration, with a background in consulting, plan sponsorship, or vendor organizations.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • A self-motivated leader with a determination to excel.
  • Excellent project management abilities.
  • Proven capacity to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic work environment.
  • Experience in overseeing contractual provisions, ensuring scope control, and guiding projects to completion.
  • Skilled in collecting and preparing data essential for analyzing benefit programs, while assisting senior consultants in program evaluations.
  • Competent in gathering renewals and aiding in the analysis, negotiations, and finalization of these renewals.
  • Organized in maintaining client documentation (e.g., SPDs, contracts, employee communications).
  • Involved in developing pricing for health and welfare programs, budgets, employee contributions, and premium equivalent rates for self-insured plans.
  • Support the negotiation of rates, contractual terms, and performance guarantees with existing benefit vendors.
  • Conduct marketing analysis, including RFP creation, proposal collection, and vendor comparisons.
  • Assist in vendor selection and performance criteria management during the onboarding of new vendors and the transition of existing vendors.
  • Apply knowledge of major health plans, administrators, and other marketplace vendors to provide consulting services to clients and prospects.
  • Maintain project plans and status logs, tracking completion times and resolving issues.
  • Notify lead consultants when project timelines and scopes deviate from initial expectations.
  • Prepare letters, presentations, proposals, charts, and spreadsheets.
  • Actively participate as a cooperative team member in projects involving other associates across the practice, group, and region.
  • Mentor junior associates whenever possible.
  • Share information openly and proactively, ensuring all relevant data is captured in client documents.

The salary range for this position is $76,000-$144,000 annually. Placement within this range will depend on job responsibilities, geographic location, relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is just one component of the total compensation package. Depending on the role and eligibility, the offer may also include bonuses or other variable compensation.
