Student Services Specialist for International Student Support

Job Summary

The Student Services Specialist will serve as the campus Designated School Official (DSO) responsible for supporting our international student population. This role will require the ability to manage sensitive and challenging issues while maintaining confidentiality. The successful candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling clear and empathetic communication with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as campus DSO, responsible for supporting our international student population and ensuring required documentation is maintained and reported.
  • Use SEVIS to maintain accurate student records and comply with immigration regulations.
  • Stay current with regulatory and legislative rules, regulations, and updates affecting international students on F-1 visas.
  • Advise students on petitions, applications, and other standard issues related to F-1 visa status, including new visas, work permits, reinstatement, change of status, medical leaves, employment, and/or reduced course load authorizations.
  • Assist students applying for OPT and STEM OPT, and required updates and maintenance in SEVIS.
  • Coordinate with Career Development and program departments for CPT authorizations for international students.
  • Organize and coordinate student-focused events.
  • Complete and maintain student scheduling and course revisions per University standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Multiple years of relevant, student support experience.
  • Knowledge of SEVIS.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and challenging issues while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Estimated salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year, based on location and experience.
