Job Summary

The University of Chicago is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join our team in the Department of Pediatrics, Section of Pediatric Neurology at Comer Children's Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary health team, you will provide direct patient care, collaborate with consulting physicians, and formulate plans of care in accordance with privileges approved by the Credentials Committee.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care and formulate plans of care in collaboration with physician, nursing staff, and the multidisciplinary health team.
  • Communicate follow-up plans and dispositions with follow-up healthcare providers.
  • Prescribe and evaluate pharmacological therapies according to protocol.
  • Attend high and low-risk deliveries as needed.
  • Stabilize and transport patients as needed.
  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of current professional and legal trends, concepts, and issues related to practice.
  • Identify educational needs of family members and assist with teaching as appropriate.
  • Ensure that appropriate systems and resources are in place to maintain established standards of care.
  • Participate in self and peer evaluation to improve quality of care.
  • Participate in the development, review, and evaluation of policies and procedures.
  • Participate in developing and implementing QI monitoring.
  • Participate in providing in-service and outreach education programs.
  • Act as a resource for clinical skills for staff on or off the unit.
  • May participate in clinical research projects conducted by supervising physicians.
  • Serve as a preceptor to APP students.
Requirements
  • Minimum requirements include a college or university degree from an accredited school/college.
  • Work experience: minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through a combination of education and a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Certifications: current and/or eligible for State of Illinois licensure/registration required.
