Systems Engineer Job Description

Hudson River Trading (HRT) is a leading financial services company that leverages a scientific approach to trading. We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join our Research & Development team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and execute technical projects to improve the performance and maintainability of our Linux research systems.
  • Manage and optimize large-scale distributed compute/HPC clusters.
  • Automate and troubleshoot technical infrastructure, including configuration management, monitoring, metrics, and logging.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues throughout the stack, from kernel to HPC scheduler.
  • Perform performance testing and tuning, and develop scripts to automate repetitive tasks.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Linux systems administration and distributed computing.
  • Expertise in installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Linux systems.
  • Comfortable using Linux/UNIX command line tools and tuning kernel performance.
  • Experience with configuration management tools and Python or Shell scripting.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
What We Offer:
  • An annual base salary range of $150,000 to $250,000.
  • A comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, retirement, paid time off, educational reimbursement, and fitness stipend.
  • A sign-on and discretionary performance bonus may be provided as part of the total compensation package.
