Job Description

At ESG Consulting, Inc, we are seeking a highly skilled Linux Systems Architect to join our team. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing and building out Linux OS infrastructure, ensuring the stability and security of our systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Build Out: Design and implement Linux environments, ensuring they meet the needs of our business.
  • System Administration: Provide strong administration of Red Hat/Oracle Enterprise Linux operating systems and various Linux OS.
  • Automation: Create, manage, and apply automation for deployment and configuration, ensuring efficiency and consistency.
  • Server Build Out: Provision server build out within virtualization, such as SAN.
  • Disaster Recovery: Assist with planning, installing, and administration of Disaster Recovery for Linux servers.
  • Change Control: Ensure all Unix/Linux based servers adhere to change control and are audited.
  • Networking: Understand and configure Postfix, DNS/bind/named, NTPD, SSH, LVM, multipath, Samba/CIFS.
  • Patching: Ensure quarterly server patching.
  • Documentation: Maintain documentation and diagrams for both daily operations and Disaster Recovery.
  • Backup Administration: Assist Backup Administrator with Unix/Linux backups using Commvault.
  • SOPs: Create, update, and follow SOPs and other documentation (ex. Change and configuration management).
Requirements
  • Design and Build Out Experience: Minimum 5-10 years of experience in designing and building out Linux environments.
  • Administrative Experience: Minimum 5-10 years of administrative experience with Linux Red Hat preferred, and other Linux distributions.
  • Automation Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience with automation tools such as Puppet, Chef, Salt, Ansible, etc.
  • Scripting/Programming Experience: Five (5) years of systems-level scripting/programming experience (bash, Korn, KSH, perl, python, C, etc).
  • VMware Virtualization Experience: Three (3) years of experience with VMware Virtualization administration.
  • Team Player: Must be a team player with appropriate corporate conduct.
  • Technical Skills: A solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing, sockets, and experience with utilities such as nmap, tcpdump, snoop, and Wireshark.
  • PKI: Understanding of PKI.
  • Networking Experience: Some networking experience with a focus on Cisco hardware a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding communications and interpersonal skills.
