Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Registrar to join our team at Sovah Health - Martinsville. As a Medical Registrar, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate pre-registration and insurance verification for patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use various patient information systems to assess and resolve issues related to appointments, financial matters, and clearance for Radiology and other Outpatient services.
  • Share information with appropriate personnel to ensure smooth processing of patient appointments and information.
  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure procedures are scheduled for required services, including any necessary changes to appointments based on patient request.
  • Collect demographic and insurance information from patients and search MPI completely to ensure assignment of the correct medical record number.
  • Notify medical records of any duplicate medical record numbers and contact physicians' offices to resolve issues regarding prior authorization or referral forms.
  • Communicate exam prep information directly to patients, including directions and registration arrival times to the facility and imaging department.
  • Research patients' visit history to ensure compliance with Medicare's 72-hour rule and use the hospital's computer system to make account notes for others to reference.
  • Verify insurance benefits and obtain precertification/authorization as necessary.
  • Support special projects and business analysis as requested.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Auditory skills, effective verbal and communication skills, hand/finger dexterity, and ability to type 30 WPM with high degree of accuracy.
  • Prolonged sitting and some bending, stooping, and stretching required.
  • 3 months on-the-job training required.
