Early Childhood Educator

Warren Village's United Airlines Early Learning Center at Gilpin is seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team. As a key member of our teaching team, you will play a critical role in fostering the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of young children in a comprehensive, high-quality early learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Curriculum Development and Implementation
- Develop and implement weekly lesson plans aligned with Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines, Creative Curriculum, and Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
- Provide individualized instruction and adapt curriculum for developmental delays, ESL learners, etc.
- Incorporate play- and inquiry-based learning.
- Nurture and build positive relationships with children.
- Child Assessment and Documentation
- Conduct assessments via established tools and document progress in digital portfolios.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate progress and areas for growth to parents.
- Classroom Management
- Establish a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment in compliance with licensing rules.
- Manage behavior with positive, culturally responsive guidance strategies and Conscious Discipline.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom according to CDHS guidelines.
- Family Engagement
- Build strong relationships with families through conferences, home visits, and daily updates.
- Share resources on child development, kindergarten readiness, and positive home practices.
- Collaborate with families and external support personnel on Individualized Learning Plans, Individualized Family Service Plans, or Individualized Education Plans as needed.
- Regulatory Compliance
- Comply with licensing regulations such as teacher-child ratios, health protocols, and safety standards.
- Maintain knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards, Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines, and Colorado Shines Quality Rating and Improvement System.
- Comply with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and CACFP requirements.
- Collaboration and Professional Development
- Cooperate with co-teachers, aides, coaches, and external agencies.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and stay current on trends in the field.
- Contribute to improvement initiatives and engage in Professional Learning Communities.
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED.
- One year of verifiable experience working with children ages 0-12, including lesson planning.
- Ability to meet at least one of the qualifications specified by the EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHER QUALIFICATION PATHWAY CHART (commonly an Early Childhood Professional Certificate Level 2).
- Willingness to undergo and pass background checks as required by state law.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in early childhood education or a closely related field.
- 3 years of verifiable teaching experience in early childhood education, including lesson planning.
- Lead teacher experience and an Early Childhood Professional Credential of 3 or above.
- Proficiency in a second language, ideally Spanish.
- Experience with culturally diverse populations.
- Ability to meet Head Start Qualification review requirements for Head Start classrooms.
- CDL licensure (if not licensed, a willingness to become licensed).
- Willingness to become CPR/First Aid certified.
- Ability to clear a TB test.
Work Environment
The working environment is typically that of a classroom setting, including using a computer and other educational tools and communicating accurately with staff and children. The employee may be exposed to contagious/ill children and must therefore be conscious of their own health and safety as well as that of the children, parents, and school personnel. The environment includes unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Physical Demands
While performing these duties, the employee will occasionally be required to lift to 40 pounds and frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, and crouch, inside and outside the building.
