Position: IT Assistant

The Town of Milford, NH is on the lookout for a dedicated IT Assistant to undertake essential responsibilities related to the management and upkeep of the Town's computer networking infrastructure. We seek an individual with exceptional customer service abilities to enhance our dynamic team.

The IT Assistant will report directly to the IT Director. The ideal candidate will be adept at providing recommendations as troubleshooting situations arise, capable of following directions, and/or collaborating closely with the IT Director. Once familiarized with our systems, this individual will be expected to operate with a degree of independence. The role encompasses network support, which includes assistance with all hardware, software, and associated technologies necessary for the daily operations of all Town Departments. The Assistant will also be tasked with researching, proposing, and implementing innovative technologies aimed at improving and modernizing the Town's IT framework and security measures.

We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an IT Assistant role or a comparable position. The successful applicant will be able to showcase their expertise, possess strong communication and documentation skills, and have substantial experience with Microsoft Windows and Server in a VMware vSphere environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Upgrading and deploying PCs and servers.
  • Setting up, installing, upgrading, and supporting network switches, firewalls, and cabling.
  • Training end-users on PC and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Troubleshooting issues related to network systems, Windows/Server systems, desktop PCs, and mobile devices.
  • Providing basic support and troubleshooting for printers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, VOIP phone systems, door/camera security systems, and cloud-based timekeeping solutions.

This position is classified as exempt within the Town's Compensation Plan. Salary will be determined based on experience. For further details regarding the position requirements, please refer to the Town's official website.
