Position Overview:
The Regional Facilities Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the upkeep and management of multiple facilities across a designated area. This role ensures that all facilities are secure, well-maintained, operational, and adhere to applicable regulations and standards.

This position involves leading a team of maintenance professionals, coordinating maintenance tasks, implementing preventive maintenance strategies, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

The manager collaborates with various stakeholders, including operational teams, safety personnel, and service providers to facilitate smooth operations and effective resource management.


Key Responsibilities:

Facility Oversight:

Manage the maintenance and administration of facilities ranging from 100,000 to over 1 million square feet within the region, ensuring they are in peak condition and fulfill operational requirements.


Team Leadership:

Directly supervise a team of site facility managers and maintenance staff, assigning responsibilities, offering guidance, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing work culture.

Evaluate and manage labor efficiency and work quality to meet established performance standards and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).


Maintenance Strategy:

Formulate and execute both short-term and long-term maintenance strategies, schedules, and procedures to ensure prompt and effective resolution of maintenance challenges and preventive maintenance tasks.

Anticipate and respond to unexpected maintenance issues.

Financial Management:

Develop and oversee a maintenance capital budget exceeding $25 million for the region, tracking expenditures, optimizing resource distribution, and identifying cost-saving measures without compromising quality and safety.


Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all facilities adhere to relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations. Establish and enforce safety protocols, conduct regular inspections, and implement corrective measures to maintain a secure working environment.

Vendor Coordination:
Work with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers to procure services, equipment, and materials necessary for facility maintenance. Assess vendor performance and assist in contract negotiations to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.

Asset Management:

Create and implement strategies for the effective management and maintenance of facility equipment, machinery, and assets, including procurement, upkeep, repairs, and replacements as necessary.


Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain precise records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment history, inventory, and maintenance reports. Prepare regular updates and presentations on maintenance metrics and performance indicators.

Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process enhancements, cost reductions, and efficiency improvements in facility maintenance operations. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to optimize facility performance.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as operations, human resources, and capital teams, to align facility maintenance activities with organizational objectives.

Provide regular updates to senior management regarding facility maintenance status, challenges, and accomplishments.

Qualifications:
Experience with automation technologies; including high-volume sortation, conveyor systems, pick-to-light, ASRS, and robotics in a distribution context.
Technical expertise in electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems repair, industrial refrigeration, and material handling maintenance.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and team-building abilities.
Strong interpersonal skills with effective written and verbal communication.
Proficient in planning, organizing, and directing programs to support operational needs.
Must be adaptable with schedule and hours to oversee and respond to the demands of a 24/7 operation.
Comply with all regulatory requirements.
Communicate and fulfill necessary record-keeping functions.
Align team members with departmental and organizational goals.
Ability to work in a temperature range of -5 to 90+ degrees Fahrenheit for extended periods.
Experience in a warehouse environment with varying conditions (e.g., cool temperatures, concrete floors, powered industrial vehicles).
Ability to read and comprehend written and numeric product identifiers.

Education & Experience:
Associate's degree or advanced specialized training in facilities management or related fields.
8-10 years of experience in facility maintenance within a large-scale distribution or manufacturing environment, preferably in grocery.
2-3 years in a leadership capacity, managing large diverse teams.
