Job Description

GPAC is seeking a highly skilled Construction Accounting Controller to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional seeking a long-term financial leadership position with a growing company.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop into a CFO and build a team that grows with them. They will receive mentoring support from our incumbent financial leader.

The chosen candidate will participate in financial decision-making that affects our company and provide strategic financial input to senior management.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and support to accounting staff, overseeing accounts payable, work in progress, fixed assets, human resources, payroll, and benefits.
  • Maintain job cost systems and interface with Project Management to accurately invoice and collect A/R, ensuring timely collection and proper documentation.
  • Be a team player with strong project and time management skills, able to meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and with staff at various locations.
  • Have excellent management and supervisory skills, with the ability to understand and apply economics, accounting, and finance principles associated with a construction business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of month-end close and general ledger functions.
  • Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and quarterly comprehensive financial reporting packages.
  • Develop and implement strong internal and financial controls to safeguard company assets and follow best practices.
  • Maintain strong relationships with our bank and oversee cash management, including monitoring cash balances and preparing cash flow forecasts.
  • Coordinate year-end audit and tax filing with an outside CPA firm.

Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar field.
  • 5-10 years of financial management experience.
  • CPA preferred but not required.
