Position Summary:
The Breast Imaging Specialist is responsible for performing technical tasks associated with screening mammography procedures to capture high-quality breast images, contributing significantly to an exceptional patient care experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate mammographic and related imaging equipment in accordance with established protocols.
  • Position patients appropriately, utilizing immobilization techniques when necessary.
  • Assess radiographs for quality, making adjustments to position, density, or contrast as needed, and obtaining additional images when required.
  • Clearly explain screening procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
  • Prepare examination rooms and equipment, maintaining cleanliness and adequate inventory of clinical supplies.
  • Collect, verify, and document all relevant information for patient visits, including clinical history and prior imaging data.
  • Identify care requirements based on each patient's specific needs.
  • Implement radiation safety measures and protective devices to comply with regulations and ensure the safety of patients and staff.
  • Assist in the onboarding and training of new Breast Imaging Specialists.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Graduate of a 24-month AMA accredited School of Radiologic Technology
ARRT certification in radiography
ARRT advanced certification in mammography must be obtained within one year of employment
BLS CPR certification

Experience:
1-3 years of experience in Mammography preferred
Experience in Diagnostic Mammography Training is a plus

Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to interpret medical reports
Anatomical knowledge of breast tissue and related structures, as well as breast pathology
Understanding of radiographic techniques and positioning
Exceptional customer service skills
Strong time management and organizational abilities

Travel Requirements:
50 - 75%

Physical Requirements:
Primarily involves walking and standing
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
Potential exposure to radiation, infectious diseases, and bloodborne pathogens.
