Job Summary

The Housekeeping Aid is a critical member of the VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION team, responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients and staff. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a full range of housekeeping activities in patient and non-patient care areas, including cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing surfaces, equipment, and furniture.
  • Operate heavy-duty cleaning equipment, such as floor buffers and pressure washers, to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Empty trash and recyclables, and transport them to designated collection areas.
  • Clean restrooms, bathrooms, and shower rooms, ensuring they meet acceptable standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including special projects and events.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in housekeeping or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The Housekeeping Aid may be required to work in various areas of the medical facility, including patient care areas, hallways, and administrative offices. The work environment is typically indoors, but may involve working outdoors in inclement weather.
