Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY

The Yarn Processing Operator in Washougal, WA, is responsible for overseeing essential operations to guarantee superior output quality. This role emphasizes safety while achieving production targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Transport wool bales from the mixing section to designated areas within the carding unit.
  • Unpack bales and load loose wool into processing machines.
  • Monitor machine operations, ensuring proper unloading and reloading procedures.
  • Adhere to stringent safety and quality protocols.
  • Utilize carts for moving products to the spinning section.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized workspace.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for enhancing safety and quality across all manufacturing processes.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to accurately follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to seek personal development and skill enhancement opportunities.
  • Flexibility to cross-train in various yarn manufacturing areas to meet evolving demands.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Engage in standing, walking, twisting, and crouching throughout the shift (excluding breaks).
  • Lift weights up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally, with safety as a priority.
  • Push and pull carts with products weighing up to 200 pounds over short distances.
  • Safely operate hand trucks to move wool bales weighing up to 450 pounds.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Preferred two or more years of experience in a production environment.
  • Any combination of education and experience demonstrating the ability to fulfill job requirements is acceptable.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work in a humid environment.
  • Exposure to wool fibers and dust.
  • Work in a loud environment where hearing protection is mandatory.
  • Non-slip footwear is required, with reimbursement options available.
