Family Law Litigation Paralegal Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced paralegal to join our team at The Murphy Law Firm in Upper Marlboro, MD. As a Family Law Litigation Paralegal, you will play a critical role in supporting our attorneys in preparing and managing complex family law cases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and manage trial binders, ensuring efficient organization and timely completion.
  • Manage and monitor tasks in the MyCase case management system, ensuring accuracy and promptness.
  • Schedule and oversee the timely completion of upcoming tasks, prioritizing deadlines and ensuring seamless case management.
  • Accurately and promptly fill out legal forms, adapting to changing requirements and regulations.
  • Effectively compose letters and court pleadings, ensuring clarity and precision.
  • Adapt and compile standard documents as necessary, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Draft both simple and complex legal paperwork and reports, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Assist the attorney in preparing for hearings and mediations, providing critical support and expertise.
  • Compile trial and mediation notebooks meticulously, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Keep clients updated and gather necessary information through regular communication, maintaining a high level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Draft proposed orders, settlement agreements, and parenting plans with precision, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Create motions following legal requirements, adapting to changing circumstances and regulations.
  • Prepare responses to discovery requests, ensuring timely submissions and accuracy.
  • Act as a substitute phone receptionist when needed, providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Ensure trial preparation starts on time, prioritizing deadlines and ensuring seamless case management.
  • Verify all necessary documents are available for court appearances, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Identify and suggest solutions for discovery discrepancies, providing critical support and expertise.
  • Efficiently manage calendar conflicts, prioritizing deadlines and ensuring seamless case management.
  • Complete any other assigned duties promptly, maintaining a high level of professionalism and discretion.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience as a family law paralegal, with a strong track record of success.
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in legal drafting and processes, with a focus on family law litigation.
  • Proficient in trial binder preparation, with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Possession of a paralegal certificate or an Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies, with a strong understanding of legal principles and procedures.
  • Diligent and proactive in advancing cases, with a strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent decision-making skills and capabilities, with a strong ability to analyze complex information and make informed decisions.
  • Detail-oriented and meticulous, with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong multitasking abilities, with a strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and driven, with a strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Patient and adaptable, with a strong ability to handle complex and dynamic situations.
  • Willingness to learn new software applications, with a strong ability to adapt to changing technology and systems.
  • Familiarity with Google Drive and G-Suite products, with a strong ability to use these tools to support case management and communication.
  • Previous experience in family law is required, with a strong understanding of legal principles and procedures.
  • Estate planning experience is highly desired, with a strong ability to analyze complex information and make informed decisions.
  • Experience with MyCase (case management system) is highly desired, with a strong ability to use this tool to support case management and communication.
  • Maryland and DC experience is highly desired, but not required.
