Position Title: Environmental Health Safety Specialist
The Environmental Health Safety Specialist role is essential for supporting the Corporate EPA and Safety Coordinator in overseeing and enhancing all initiatives, processes, and protocols related to workplace safety, health, industrial hygiene, and cleanliness at the facility. Responsibilities include initiating, managing, and continuously improving established safety, ergonomic, and health programs; ensuring that all personnel are informed of and adhere to federal, state, and local regulations concerning the safe operation of equipment and tools utilized in production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Refine and enhance all safety programs, policies, and procedures, including safety committee activities, emergency response training, and compliance with safety signage requirements.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant governmental regulations, including OSHA and NIOSH standards.
- Coordinate regular assessments of workplace conditions, including air quality and noise levels, and manage compliance with health standards.
- Conduct comprehensive investigations into workplace incidents and near misses.
- Prepare detailed reports that identify root causes and propose corrective measures.
- Collaborate with the safety team to perform routine safety audits across manufacturing areas.
- Identify potential safety hazards and ensure compliance with established safety protocols.
- Engage with employees to foster a culture of safety and collect feedback on safety practices.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents and activities in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the development and delivery of safety training programs tailored for manufacturing staff.
- Work closely with the EPA/Safety Coordinator and other stakeholders to ensure proactive safety measures are in place.
- Participate in the formulation and implementation of emergency response strategies.
- Support safety initiatives related to environmental matters, including air quality and waste management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Safety Management, or a related field is preferred, though relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated experience in safety, health, and environmental disciplines.
- Familiarity with plant safety policies and relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Strong commitment to safety and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
