Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team at Stantec. As a key member of our Environmental Services team, you will provide technical support on Transportation projects, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and permitting requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform environmental compliance inspections and monitoring for Transportation projects, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Provide technical expertise on environmental compliance for construction activities and operations, including permit applications and reporting.
  • Document and manage compliance data, including permit conditions, plans, and environmental laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project compliance and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Interpret and apply state and federal environmental laws, regulations, and best management practices to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in the creation of technical documents, including permit applications, compliance reports, and summaries.
  • Support the implementation of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures, and coordinate with HSE professionals as needed.
Requirements
  • 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, permitting, and technical reporting, with a focus on Transportation work.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills, with attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Familiarity with federal and state regulations and permitting requirements, including wetlands, natural resources, and cultural resources.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related field.
  • VA DEQ ESC/SWM Inspector certification.
  • Experience with VDOT's VSMP, ESCCC, Environmental, and MS4 Programs, including the C-107 process.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position that requires working in an office environment, with occasional fieldwork and exposure to the elements. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
