Role Overview
We are currently seeking a qualified and driven individual to take on the role of Managing Consultant focusing on land use permitting within our site solutions team. This position is crucial for overseeing various aspects of land use permitting, which encompasses:
- Management of field surveys and wetland assessments
- Evaluation of permit applicability and preparation of necessary documentation
- Development of comprehensive permitting plans
- Coordination of client and agency meetings
- Preparation of environmental impact statements and permitting reports
This role also involves supporting site characterization and remediation projects, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and addressing potential human and ecological risks associated with contaminants.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and review of permitting documents in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Facilitate meetings with clients and regulatory agencies regarding land use and remediation
- Conduct analyses of remedial and permitting alternatives
- Oversee field surveys and assessments, ensuring quality deliverables
- Develop site plans for both remediation and permitting
- Prepare detailed reports and maintain effective communication
- Build and sustain client relationships, including budget and proposal management
- Mentor junior staff in site investigation and permitting processes
- Support regulatory negotiations and review technical documents
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A BS/MS in engineering, environmental science, biology, or a related field
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in land use permitting, particularly in New Jersey
- Familiarity with NJDEP and PADEP regulations and permitting processes
- Strong technical writing and analytical capabilities
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proven project management experience, including budget and proposal preparation
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
- Wetland Delineation Certification is advantageous but not mandatory
