The Role

As our Chief Clean Energy Strategist, you will lead our work to define policies, markets, and business models that can accelerate the adoption of clean energy in the United States and abroad. You will manage our research team and collaborate with senior leadership to develop the strategy for the organization, its research agenda, and work plans for research projects.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive clean energy strategy to drive impact and growth.
  2. Lead and manage a high-performing research team to conduct modeling and analytical work.
  3. Collaborate with senior leadership to develop new proposals and reports, including providing direction on content and prioritization.
  4. BUILD AND MAINTAIN A NETWORK OF LEADERS ACROSS THE ENERGY POLICY LANDSCAPE THAT WILL SERVE AS THOUGHT PARTNERS, COLLABORATORS, AND REVIEWERS.
  5. Design and manage research projects, providing coordination among CLevelCrossing staff, external researchers, and key client stakeholders.
  6. Oversee the development of quantitative and analytical reports and research products.
  7. Serve on the Senior Leadership team and collaborate in developing the strategy for the organization, its research agenda, and work plans for research projects.
  8. Collaborate with Directors and Executives across the company to ensure the projects are in line with the values, expectations, and mission of CLevelCrossing.

Qualifications

  1. Master's degree in energy- or environment-related field (quantitative background preferred; economics, engineering, public policy coursework helpful)
  2. Experience guiding overall strategy for national or, ideally, international organizations
  3. Understanding of energy modeling; ability to detect patterns and interpret data in the context of large-scale energy systems
  4. Solid quantitative skills; experience guiding a team (internal and external) to conduct modeling and other analytical work
  5. Excellent interpersonal and management skills demonstrated track record of building and leading high performance teams
  6. Demonstrated experience in nurturing a vibrant and collaborative team culture
  7. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking
  8. Experience working in service to a broad range of clients and/or stakeholders
  9. Proactive and decisive, even in high stress situations
  10. Expert in organizational and time management strategies
  11. Willingness to travel domestically and overseas (when it is safe to do so)
  12. Passion for clean energy, climate issues, and social equity

Compensation & Location

CLevelCrossing offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, and a comprehensive benefits package. This position will be based in San Francisco, CA, USA. Post COVID-19 restrictions, domestic and international travel may be required for this role.
