Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Inpatient Psychiatric Nurse Specialist to join our team at Northern California Behavioral Health System. As an Inpatient Psychiatric Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced acute locked hospital facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Nursing Care Planning: Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans that address the unique needs of each patient.
  • Clinical Oversight: Provide direct clinical oversight to other nursing staff, ensuring seamless coordination of care and adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive treatment plans that cater to patients' physical, emotional, and social needs.
  • Patient Safety and Risk Management: Identify potential risks and take proactive measures to prevent harm to patients and staff.
  • Education and Training: Participate in ongoing education and training to stay updated on best practices in psychiatric nursing and maintain certification in crisis prevention and intervention.
  • Leadership and Teamwork: Demonstrate leadership skills by effectively communicating with colleagues, facilitating teamwork, and promoting a culture of safety and respect.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Incident Reporting: Report any incidents or near misses promptly and thoroughly, contributing to a culture of transparency and continuous quality improvement.

Requirements:

  • Current RN License: Possess a current and active California RN license.
  • CPR and CPI Certification: Hold current CPR and CPI certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Knowledge and Experience: Demonstrate knowledge and experience in psychiatric diagnosis, treatment planning, and leadership principles.
