Job Summary

The Lawrence Unified School District is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager - Facilities & Operations to join our team. This role is responsible for providing technical and construction project management support for school site improvements, facility modifications, and new construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the owner's representative in administering projects to ensure effective oversight and execution.
  • Coordinate Design Guideline changes with other departments to ensure consistent and updated design practices across the district.
  • Develop project scopes in conjunction with district offices, school administrators, and maintenance personnel to align project objectives with stakeholder needs and requirements.
  • Develop and manage project cost estimates, budgets, and associated documentation to maintain financial control and project viability.
  • Lead and maintain communications with district and external contacts to facilitate smooth project progression.
  • Maintain documentation and files on modifications to project records, budgets, and contracts to ensure accurate and up-to-date project information and financial accountability.
  • Manage the project design and construction process through planning, professional services, and contractor selection, including contract negotiations, building design code reviews, and construction contract agreements.
  • Provide reports on project status and respond to emails and other correspondence to keep all stakeholders informed and engaged.
  • Provide guidance and assist school administrators and parent groups on school-based projects to facilitate effective project planning and community engagement.
  • Provide design oversight to ensure adherence to district standards and assist in establishing district guidelines and standards to ensure that projects meet established quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Review project construction documents and coordinate efforts between other district offices, school administrators, and maintenance personnel during the design, bidding, and construction phases of projects to ensure alignment and efficient project execution.
  • Serve as the contract compliance officer and ensure contract compliance for assigned projects throughout the life of the contracts to maintain adherence to contractual terms and conditions.
Requirements
  • Job-related experience within a specialized field is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Valid Driver's License and Evidence of Insurability are required.
  • Training in the area of construction management or completed journeyman training is preferred.
Work Environment

The job requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
