Radiology RN Job Description

The Radiology RN plays a vital role in the assessment, planning, and care of patients undergoing radiological examinations and procedures. This position requires a high level of alertness and attention to detail to ensure patient safety and comfort.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinate communication between clinics, providers, and imaging department staff to ensure seamless patient care.
  2. Review patient assessment information to identify potential risks and contraindications for imaging tests.
  3. Monitor patient status during procedures to detect any changes that may require medical intervention.
  4. Adjust and position patients to manage pain levels and maintain optimal image quality.
  5. Provide patients and families with post-procedure and discharge instructions.
  6. Respond to emergencies and adverse events after procedures.
  7. Work with the pre-cert team to ensure procedures are properly coordinated.
  8. Provide on-site patient care, including coordination with physicians and other staff members.
  9. Start intravenous catheters and administer medications as needed.
  10. Provide patient education on disease, treatment, and available support services.
  11. Triage telephone calls and resolve patient issues and concerns.
  12. Communicate patient status to radiologists and other healthcare professionals.
  13. Perform duties such as administering IV fluids and monitoring vital signs.
  14. Transport patients to and from procedures.
  15. Maintain accurate patient charts and records.
Requirements:
  1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  2. Arkansas RN license.
  3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  4. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  5. Obtain Certified Radiology Nurse Exam certification within one year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. 3 years of clinical experience in direct patient care.
  2. Experience in intensive care, PACU, or emergency department.
  3. Excellent computer and office equipment skills.
Work Environment:

This position involves potential exposure to infectious diseases. Colleagues are offered appropriate vaccinations and safety training.
