The Assistant Store Manager plays a crucial role in managing the overall operations of designated Pump & Pantry locations during the Manager's absence. This position involves executing various responsibilities personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the recruitment, discipline, and termination of staff in collaboration with the Manager and Corporate Human Resource Department.
  • Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted punctually.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in opening and closing shifts, including completing all necessary paperwork.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and uphold the company's customer service policies.
  • Oversee cash management and bank deposits.
  • Ensure employees adhere to proper food handling procedures and comply with all state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain a positive demeanor.
  • Address any issues involving customers, staff, or equipment.
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and overall appearance of assigned stores meet company standards.
  • Manage inventory levels and ensure accurate pricing.
  • Support the implementation and follow-up of company training programs.
  • Supervise and train all staff thoroughly.
  • Train associates in food handling and company protocols, including proper hold times and code dating.
  • Ensure proper storage and temperature control of all food products.
  • Guarantee all shifts are adequately staffed.
  • Ensure all personnel are in appropriate uniforms, neat and clean, at all times.
  • Enforce all company policies and procedures.
  • Regularly report maintenance, customer, and personnel issues to upper management.
  • Maintain necessary records related to merchandise, personnel, and fuel.
  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Attend management and training meetings as required.
  • Provide friendly and competent customer service.
  • Report to work punctually and maintain consistent attendance.

Additional Job Duties:

  • Assist with other tasks as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises 4 to 16 employees at each assigned Pump & Pantry location.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Preferred experience of one to three years as a Solo-location Assistant Manager, with a minimum of six months as a sales associate required.
  • An Associate's Degree is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a Food Handler's permit or Serve Safe Certification where mandated by law or policy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of operations and maintenance of all equipment in the assigned stores is essential.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of three 2nd shifts per week opposite the manager to ensure key operating hours have a manager on duty.
  • Reliable transportation and phone are required.
  • Proficiency in English communication is necessary.
  • Ability and willingness to deliver friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service.
  • Ability and willingness to collaborate effectively with team members.
