The Clinical Respiratory Specialist is responsible for executing essential respiratory care tasks for patients experiencing acute or critical health conditions. This role involves initiating and sustaining appropriate therapeutic interventions, including advanced life support measures. The specialist provides essential support related to the respiratory and cardiovascular systems within designated patient care environments. It is imperative to demonstrate and uphold proficiency in all relevant clinical competencies. The role also emphasizes a commitment to exceptional patient service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively contributes to process enhancement initiatives
  • Aids in the training and orientation of new staff members
  • Accurately documents and processes charges for all procedures
  • Responds promptly to emergencies and administers CPR as needed

Airway Management:

  • Effective utilization of manual resuscitation devices
  • Conducts airway suctioning procedures
  • Performs intubation and extubation
  • Provides bronchoscopy and procedural respiratory assistance

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program is mandatory
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential is essential
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications must be acquired within the initial 90 days of employment
  • A minimum of one year of clinical experience in an acute care environment is necessary
