Key Responsibilities:

The role involves the management and supervision of the Health and Safety program at Harsco Reed Business, aiming to assist operations and plant management in identifying and mitigating workplace risks. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting risk assessments and advising operational teams on risk resolution.
  • Implementing a proactive safety approach, identifying operational challenges, and proposing effective strategies for resolution.
  • Designing and delivering all mandatory OSHA and company-specific safety training programs to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Performing regular EHS inspections independently or collaboratively to identify existing or potential hazards, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
  • Evaluating hazardous conditions and practices, collaborating with team members to align with OSHA standards.
  • Providing technical assistance on environmental, safety, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Monitoring employee operations and tasks that may affect safety and health.
  • Conducting investigations into injuries and accidents, including report preparation and equipment damage assessments.
  • Ensuring all corporate safety policies and procedures are up-to-date.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports for both the company and regulatory bodies.
  • Staying informed about industry trends and changes in workplace safety standards.
  • Collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams to reduce injury rates across the division.
  • Maintaining relevant EH&S documentation and logs.
  • Offering guidance on EH&S matters to facility management.
  • Fostering positive relationships with managers, employees, customers, and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications:

To excel in this position, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are required:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a Health and Safety role; technical writing experience is advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and relationship-building abilities, along with exceptional presentation and project planning skills.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with safety compliance reporting.
Additional Skills:
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel domestically as required.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze various forms of information.
