Key Responsibilities:- Conduct microbiological tests, procedures, and analyses on specimens, including cultures, sensitivity testing, and microscopy.
- Prepare and maintain bacterial, viral, and fungal cultures.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of biological materials and hazardous waste according to safety protocols.
- Record and interpret test results accurately and promptly.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, troubleshoot technical issues, and perform routine maintenance as needed.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and laboratory staff to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic information.
- Adhere to quality control and quality assurance guidelines to ensure validity and reliability of laboratory tests.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and reagents and assist in ordering supplies as necessary.
- Comply with all safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Associate's Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry preferred.
- State license where required (CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MT, NV, NY, ND, RI, WV).
- National Certification as a Microbiology Technologist required.
